FreshFish is under active development. These checks cover the current iOS preview and its Cloudflare identification service.

Before posting GitHub issues are public. Never include a fish photo containing people, authentication token, email address or other private information. There is no guaranteed response time during the research preview.

Camera or photos

In iOS Settings, confirm FreshFish has Camera and Photos permission. A photo import is a still-image test; recorded-video replay is a closer local simulation, but neither proves live AR tracking on a physical iPhone.

Repeated or merged lots

The intended identity is one visually coherent tray or plate per local session. Use the session validation ledger to flag a duplicate ID or false merge. Separate trays stay separate even when they appear to hold the same species.

Cloud identification

The app sends no video stream. A stable lot may make one representative crop eligible for screening. Network failure, an unqualified local detector or an uncertain result can keep the lot local; cloud output is only a candidate until reviewed.

Label evidence

OCR can help associate a tray label with a lot, but label text is untrusted context—not ground truth. Contributing a label crop for later research is a separate choice and should be used only when you are permitted to share it.

Delete your data

Use the in-app account deletion control and type the requested confirmation to delete cloud account data. Erase the local session cache separately because it is stored only on the phone. Read the privacy controls for the distinction.

Report a problem

Describe the iPhone model, iOS version, app build, test path and expected result in a new GitHub issue. Use synthetic identifiers and redact screenshots before attaching them.

Food safety

Do not use FreshFish to decide whether seafood is fresh or safe to eat. A camera cannot verify handling temperature, smell, texture, contamination, mercury in an individual fish or suitability for a medical condition. Follow local food-safety authorities and seek qualified advice.

Project status

The iOS app, local session registry and backend are prototypes. The current detector is not production-qualified, Android has not been implemented, and nutrition or mercury enrichment stays locked until a person confirms a supported catalogue species.
